The Nyquist Foundation awards grants to local nonprofit organizations in the towns of Bainville, Froid and Culbertson, MT and New Paltz, NY annually.
Grants are given to eligible 503(c)1 private or governmental nonprofit organizations in these communities and only these communities for equipment, events and small projects that will benefit the community as a whole. We are particularly interested in supporting projects where a small amount of money may make the difference between success or failure, with most grants ranging from $500-$1000. With rare exception, the maximum award made by the foundation is $2000.
The foundation does not support projects on a multi-year basis, but will consider applications for new needs from organizations that have been supported previously after an at least one-year hiatus. The Nyquist Foundation typically funds about $10,000 a year, and normally between a third and half of all applications are funded. Click here to view the past grants we have awarded.
Applications should be submitted in October using the application form available on this website. The deadline is November 1st for applications and all supporting documentation. Please see detailed application guidelines. In preparing submissions, applicants should be aware that the board normally meets only once a year – in December – to finalize funding decisions. Inquiries are always welcome, and will be responded to as they are received.
Notification of foundation decisions will be in January, with actual monetary awards sent out in March or April. Applicants who are funded are required to submit proof to the foundation of when and how funds are expended. All unused moneys must be returned.
